She likes New Year Check In’s
We are somehow already a month into the New Year! A perfect time to pause, and check in on those resolutions and goals we made last month when we were feeling all of the motivational hype around the year ahead of us and all we wanted to accomplish.
But even that can seem daunting if we don’t know how to examine a full month of our lives and what needs to change, I mean how much can really go wrong after 31 days, right?
A great tactic I use in my professional career is called “Start, Stop, Keep”.
This simple exercise requires nothing more than your brain and the willingness to evaluate behavior. It’s a great method for giving feedback to a colleague, friend, relationship partner, and more importantly, yourself!
Here’s a quick recap of my “Start, Stop, Keep’s” for you to use as an easy template for yourself!
Start….
After some self reflection of the past month in hopes of sticking to more consistent behaviors that will help me achieve my goals…
I am going to START….
prioritizing reading for pleasure & self development
Looking for organizations to donate to that will support my goal of de-cluttering
Going to bed earlier
Stop….
Continuing on with the year, I am going to STOP….
Mindless scrolling
Following social media accounts that don’t positively enrich my life
Saying no to things that get me out of my comfort zone
Purchasing items of not good quality that I will only wear or use once
Keep….
Although there are some adjustments I need to make to stay on track, I am proud of myself for staying committed to my goals. I am going to KEEP….
Staying active & exercising, and giving notice to how much it helps my mind
Sticking to my monthly budget and honor the long-term financial goals I have
Purchasing items of good quality that will last and are seen as an investment
De-cluttering my home & embracing minimalism
Whether you choose to keep a mental note of this January reflection or log it in your journal, this is a great way to check in monthly and see how you’re tracking this year. Checking in on behaviors & habits periodically helps to stay focused on the goals we were so excited for at one point.
What are some things you will choose to start, stop, and keep doing headed into the new month?
